i) A Persia (Iran) Islamic ewer Seljuk period, circa 1100AD - 1400AD Inscribed with a band of Kufic script engraved bronze. Height 26.5 cm. diameter: 16 cm Reference: P.Pal, 'Islamic Art', 1974 Note: the handle assumes the greatly abstracted form of a leaping lion, whilst a bird motif, of a kind that is often seen in Islamic Art, appears as a finial on the lid.
