Pair of Satsuma Meiji period brocade vases, c.1870, of cylindrical form, with a waisted neck and flattened rim, one decorated with gilt bordered panels depicting emaciated buddha and warriors in the ocean, the other with immortals at sea and warriors in the ocean, set on a textured body accented with floral roundels, accented with gilt and brocade borders, a/f (one repaired) incised marks to base reads 'Obie, made at Roku kiln, Kyoto,' height 25 cm (2)
