A French Empire ormolu-mounted mantel clock, late 18th / early 19th century signed Th. Gay, Hger du Roi, a Turin, the eight day silk suspension movement striking on a bell, the three inch enamel dial with Arabic hours and quarters set into a variegated grey marble casket on lions paw feet and a stepped base surmounted by the figure of a sleeping child in front of a pillar supporting an oval tablet with letters cut out in copper: 'Qui que tu soit reconnois un raitre.
