An Edward Matthews Welsh silver verge escapement pair case watch, gilt fullplate movement with pierced and engraved balance bridge cock culminating in a green man. Square columns. Verge escapement. The fullplate signed E Mathews Welshpool. The inner case marked Hh with hallmarks for Birmingham 1821. The face with enamel dial, Roman numerals and gilt hands. The outer case by the same maker with identical hallmarks, watchpaper for P. Cattaneo, Croydon, Surrey. Welsh, circa 1821. Diameter: 55 mm. Other Notes: Edward Matthews is recorded as being active in Wales between 1803-1844.
