A game of Lotto, circa 1850, Nouveau jeu de Loto Geographique et Universel ou tableaux des Capitales de L'Univers., [Paris, Chromol de Engelmann et Graf], circa 1850., a loto game consisting of 18 pictorial game cards, each illustrated with five lithographic scenes depicting different cities of the world, a small cloth bag containing glass counters, a large cloth bag containing 90 numbered timber tokens, a printed description, list of places depicted and instructions on yellow paper, all contained in the original decorated card box, 29 x 23 cm, with colour-printed lid highlighted in gold., the depiction of Sydney harbour (number 48) is closely modelled on the view 'Vooloo-mooloo au port Jackson' which was published in the official account of La Place's 'Grand voyage' in 'La Favorite'. The view had originally been drawn in Sydney by the artist on the voyage, Barthelemy Lauvergne, and was prepared for publication as an aquatint by Sainson.
