Robert Prenzel (attributed) 'Waratah' bedroom suite., a superb example of Australian Arts & Crafts design and manufacturing, utilizing the finest cuts of Tasmanian fiddleback blackwood. Comprising a stunning beaconsfield robe, bedside cabinet, two side chairs and a fine washstand with English Arts & Crafts tile back., retailed by farmer & Co., Sydney's most prestigious Emporium of the day, the suite was advertised as the 'Waratah bedroom Suite' on the 27th of July 1908 in the Sydney Morning Herald for the princely sum of £350. With the headline 'A bedroom suite for £350, a bedroom suite for £9:5:0', the suite was offered as an example of the epitome of the wood-carver's craft and compared with a 'Standard' product which would have been more affordable. The suite was displayed in the front window of the Pitt Street store and would have certainly turned some heads., bears farmer & Co. Impressed stamps and circular labels.
