A rare Fender 'Custom Gold Leaf Clapton' Stratocaster electric guitar, from a production run of fifty, 23K gold leaf, 2004, American made, serial number CN97094, rare lacquered Gold Leaf finish, AAA flamed maple neck with satin polyurethane finish, gold plated vintage style hardware, three Fender Custom Shop 'Noiseless' single coil pickups, 1950s 'Spaghetti' Fender logo to face of headstock, Custom Shop shield and 'Eric Clapton' printed signature to rear, Fender 'Tweed' hard case with orange interior, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Other Notes: Few guitarists have had such a profound influence on the electric guitar as Eric Clapton. Clapton stands as the only three-time inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including as a member of the pioneering British blues-rock bands The Yardbirds, Cream and as a solo artist., Beyond his mainstream success, Clapton's long-standing career has been punctuated by numerous personal challenges, including drug and alcohol addiction and family tragedy. He has since channelled his hardships into numerous philanthropic acts: since 1998 Clapton has chaired his rehabilitation centre 'Crossroads' to help others overcome their addictions. His list of philanthropic pursuits are vast and have raised over $15m in funding for causes close to his heart., In 1997 Clapton commissioned Fender to create a unique Stratocaster for his live performances. At his request he had a 1950s style Stratocaster finished in a unique 'Gold Leaf' lacquer. The instrument was subsequently displayed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for over two years before finally being sold at his famous Crossroads Guitar Auction in 2004, achieving $455,000 USD at the hammer., To commemorate the sale of this unique Stratocaster, the Fender Custom Shop collaborated with Clapton to produce a strictly limited run of 50 instruments, each individually numbered and serialised featuring the same stunning 23K 'Gold Leaf' finish made famous by the master guitarist. Rarely offered for sale, this rare investment grade Stratocaster is an instrument to be treasured.
