A rare blackwood Edward VII commemorative armchair carved by Mabel young, the top rail centred with a crown and flanked by a pair of padded roundels above a carved, pierced splat in the form Er VII 1902 with the Australian flag and the Union Jack, flanked by turned uprights and curved armrests, the padded seat in abstract needlework on turned legs with an H stretcher, stamped 'Mabel Young', height 99 cm, width 53 cm, depth 56 cm. Other Notes: Mabel Ellen young (nee Sawyer) (1875-1957) was an accomplished wood carver and metalworker and married the artist Blamire young in 1895.
