Description:
A World War I AIF Sixth Battalion belt and photo, the framed black and white photo of private William hope Hunt who fought at Gallipoli in April 1915. The belt made by Hunt from a World War I army uniform/blanket. Handstitched in purple and red (being the colours of the 6th battn) 'Gallipoli Peninsula landed April 25th 1915, 6th Battalion AIF'. Also stitched are the honours 'Walker Ridge, Suvia bay, Ashi Baba', two crossed flags the British and the Australian red Ensign, 'Advance Australia', two more crossed flags the Belgian and French, and more battle honours 'Cape Helles, Quinns post, Anzac'. With applied badges and buttons, 10 x 74 cm. Other Notes: the original World War I badges and buttons would have been swapped for Hunt's own, which was a common practice in World War I.
