A Melbourne Olympic Games Bid Box, made from Western Australian jarra burr, signed Michael Thoren with an applied stirling silver sprig of gum leaves and gum nuts. Inside is a plaque engraved 'Melbourne 1996'. Other Notes: made as a promotional gift for the Melbourne bid to hold the Summer Olympic Games in 1996, the 100th Olympiad. History records that the games were awarded to Atlanta.
