A pokerwork box by Alice Mary Parsons, the hinged top centred with a roundel of a stylised grove of trees with a landscape beyond, signed to the base, first quarter 20th century, height 5.5 cm, width 20.5 cm, depth 18 cm. Provenance: The Ruth Simon Collection, privately acquired from the above in 2005. Other Notes: Alice Mary Parsons was a member of and regular exhibitor at the Arts & Crafts Society from the 1910s to the 1930s. She studied at the Julian Ashton Art school and belonged to the Society of women Painters. Parsons is known for her pokerwork and painting on wood and fabric. Her pokerwork is represented in the Art Gallery of NSW.
