A rare sterling silver teapot, decorated with rococo scrolls and flowers, on four scroll feet, engraved crest on one side and engraved initials HJC on the other, maker William Edwards, Melbourne. Engraved to base 'W. Edwards, Manufacturer, Melbourne, sterling Silver', circa 1870, height 22 cm. Provenance: The Ruth Simon Collection, privately acquired from the above in 2005, Literature: nineteenth century Australian silver, J.B Hawkins, Vol I, pg 253 (illustrated).
