A Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette with applied gilded Australian artwork, the plain silver body with hinged lid, gilded grill fitted to interior, applied gilded depiction of a kangaroo in foliage. Inscribed 'A'Alla Mia Cara Sposa Brighton Xmas 1897. A.' to underside of lid, maker Deakin & Francis, hallmarked Birmingham 1897, height 4.5 cm. Provenance: The Ruth Simon Collection, privately acquired from the above in 2005
