A pair of Chinese huanghuali spindle-back 'Meigui-Yi' chairs, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), circa 17th/18th century, of gently tapered form, with spindle inset arms and backs, the arch-shaped aprons with fine beading along the edge, and with square-section legs. The seats have been later modified to remove the previous woven cane seats and replaced with hardwood panels. 90.5 cm high, 54 cm wide, 45 cm deep. Provenance: Purchased by the vendor in Hong Kong in the 1990s.
