Accessories: Rolex international service guarantee numbered 9119700, dated 27 August 2007, instruction booklet (in Japanese), certificate of authenticity, Rolex presentation box and outer box in the 1970s Rolex started to develop its first quartz movements. Prior to that Rolex had joined with other prominent watch manufacturers in the development of the highly accurate Beta 21 quartz calibre. In 1977, after five years of research and design, Rolex introduced their own masterful in-house quartz calibres, launched in the Datejust version (cal. 5035) as well as in a Day-Date version (cal. 5055), as illustrated by the present lot. Rolex discontinued their Oysterquartz wristwatches in 2001 and they were phased out of the retail market by 2003.
