A rare Crown Lynn equestrian statuette of the thoroughbred stallion Carbine, originally commissioned in 1977 by The Auckland Carbine Club as a trophy/statuette to be presented each year to the winner of the Carbine Club Stakes at the Auckland Racing Club. The statue was modelled by Tam Mitchell. Made from 1977 and probably up until the pottery closed in 1989 these statues are very rare. Anecdotally it is claimed three were made each year, one for the Club and the other two as spares. This example was gifted to the renowned horse breeder Ted Van Beurden, height 29.5 cm excluding stand.
