An early 19th century French ormolu mantel clock, the clock with engraved decoration and applied flowers and bows, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, clock surmounted by a gilded copy of James Pradier's sculpture of Sappho with lyre and poetry scroll at her feet. (Sappho was a Greek poet from the island of Lesbos known for her lyric poetry, written to be sung while accompanied by a lyre). 43 x 16 x 45 cm.
