A pair of massive Victorian Italianate cast iron architectural finials, these finials were two of twelve that surmounted one of the Auckland Gasworks Company gasometers (coal gas holding tanks) constructed in the late 19th century at the bottom of Franklin Road, Freemans Bay and subsequently demolished in the 1970s, diameter 80 cm, height 230 cm.
