A William and Mary ebonised bracket clock, hour strike with pull quarter Repeat by John Constantin, London, the repousse double basket top with D-ended handle and four foliate finials. Glazed door with applied pierced repousse brass escutcheons and mounts, silvered Roman and Arabic dial with cherub spandrels, matted centre with blued steel hands, signed 'John Constantin, London'. The backplate engraved and signed 'Jn Constantin, Londini, fecit.', London, circa 1700. W20 x D16.5 x H49 cm. Provenance: Gerald Marsh, Winchester, 1978. Other Notes: Loomes writes that John Constantin had promised to join the Clockmakers Company in 1658 but failed to do so.
