A Japanese Kyoyaki studio Shell-Form dish, Mashimizu Zoroku I, Edo period (1603-1868), circa 1850s, naturalistically modelled in earthenware as an abalone shell, with one clamshell-form foot. Impressed Zoroku mark to the base. Together with tomobako (original signed wooden box). 5.5 cm high, 25 cm wide. One chip to the side of the dish. Otherwise no further faults or damage.
