A rare and important early colonial neo-classical cedar bookcase Australian, Sydney, multi-paned glazed top with original drawn glass, (11 panes to each side), carved scroll crests, fielded cross-banding to doors and cornice, two ogee fronted drawers, framed with acanthus carving, the cupboard doors with carved corner adornments flanked by boldly carved serpentine scrolls, standing on lions paw feet. A strongly proportioned rare early bookcase, one of the best examples of the period.
