Provenance: Gavin Graham gallery, London Joseph brown gallery, Melbourne Private Collection, Melbourne Charles Rodius was born in Cologne in 1802 and arrived in Sydney in 1829 where he died in 1860. As a convict artist he received a certificate of exemption in 1832 and from then taught drawing and painting in Sydney.
