A carved and painted Chinese ivory figurine group of traditional Chinese figures upon a carved wooden silver inlay base. Likely Republic period. Height: 33 cm items 373 - 374 the Voc ship, 'Geldermaisen', sunk 3/1/1752 with its extensive cargo which included porcelain originally potted in Jingdezhen and then shipped to Nanking for delivery to the Voc. Hence the name 'Nanking Cargo', when the auctioneer Christies sold the items in Amsterdam during the mid 1980's. Since then, large parcels have been re-auctioned and disseminated via the antique trade around the world
