An Australian silver and parcel gilt christening mug 1837 Inscribed 'Francis Bryant Esq For the Best Bull Southern Agricultural Association, 1837, First Class Prize'. Francis Bryant Esq. was a butcher in Hobart, listed in 1829 on a birth certificate for one of his children; in 1842, there are a string of court references in regards to sheep being stolen from his property, so he presumably was later a farmer, or may have been both butcher and farmer. The 'Southern Agricultural Association' inscription appears on two trophies, now in the Tasmanian Art Gallery; the Cawthorn cup of 1835, and the Austin cup of 1836. Both pieces are attributed to Joseph Forrester.
