A rare Peter Hutson & Co. large sculpted pottery figure of a Maori wahine, the late 19th century fountain pedestal with deep toned rich majolica glaze, she stands wearing a Maori rain cape (pake) with one arm raised and on an octagonal base. Modelled by W, height Barrett, 'Teacher of modelling at the School of Design' (Wellington Technical School), height 89 cm. Some restoration to base and arm, basket absent.
