A Jane Brenkley Maori carved box, extensively carved, pokerworked, painted and highlighted with paua and cat's eyes, the hinged lid with three stylised tiki forms, the interior with lake scene and Maori figures inscribed 'Though Loving Thoughts Are Left Unsaid Too Often Through The Year, Each Day You're Thought Of Lovingly And Proudly, Mother Dear!', signed and dated 1954. Raised on two bar form feet. 33 cm x 22.5 cm x 13 cm.
