Description:
Exceptionally rare early 17th century Scottish silver disc-end spoon, the disc engraved with initials SCL and simple engraved decoration beneath, the back with initials DBS. Makers mark of Gilbert Kirkwood and Deacons/assay masters mark for James Denniestoun, with central mark of Edinburgh castle, the disc-end design is a pattern unique to Scotland, a similar example is held in the National Museum of Scotland's collection.
