An official Olympic Games Helsinki 1940 publicity envelope used in July 1939 from Ruokolahti to Paris, just prior to the cancellation of the Games. The 1940 Summer Olympics were originally scheduled to be held from Sept. 21 to Oct.6, 1940, in Tokyo. They were rescheduled for Helsinki, Finland, to be held from July 20 to Aug.1940, but were cancelled due to the outbreak of World War II. Helsinki eventually hosted the 1952 Summer Olympics and Tokyo the 1964 Summer Olympics.
