German lithographed tin toy 'Zikra' by Lehmann pulling a two-wheeled red cart with decorated wheels is a curious animal, the zebra-horse cross-bread Zebroid. a Mexican man is seated on the cart. When coil-spring wound, the man pulls on the reins, causing the unhappy zebroid to buck back and forth, his ears moving up and down, and thus causing the man to bounce up and down; the cart reluctantly moves forward. Marked Lehmann; circa 1925. the curious toy was inspired by the ill-fated actual attempt in early 1900s to cross-breed the wild zebra with the domesticated saddle animal; although the actual zebroid farm was unsuccessful, the toy enjoyed success for more than 20 years in three versions as Na-Nu, Zikra and Dare Devil.
