An 1885 Q Class tender locomotive, road number '78' (210 x 38 x 50 mm) built by Dubs & Co (Glasgow, England), livery in black with trim in red & in gold plate, 4-4-0 wheel configuration. (Q Class were purchased to work the Adelaide hills line and performed so well that a second batch was acquired locally from James Martin & Co. When the more powerful R Class engines were introduced, Qs were utilised in the interstate service between Murray bridge and Serviceton as well as working the Northern lines.).
