A circa 1954 J Class (J516) branch line steam locomotive (245 x 36 x 60 mm) operating between 1954 and 1972 carrying both passenger and goods traffic, built at the Vulcan foundry (Lancashire, England), black livery, 2-8-0 wheel configuration, with rolling stock comprising type Bw & type Ap passenger carriages, total size 715 x 36 x 60 mm. (4 items) (a total of 50 J Class locomotives were ordered from the Vulcan foundry, which was increased to 60 when VR opted to sell ten of its brand-new second generation N Class locomotives to South Australian Railways, the order being split 50/50 between coal burning and oil burning engines).
