A Japanese Hirado porcelain bowl, Meiji period (1868-1912), decorated in underglaze blue on fine pure white porcelain with boys chasing butterflies under an ancient pine tree to the interior, and to the exterior with three vignettes of a boy with a butterfly. Four character mark to the base reading 'Hirado Kasho'. 7 cm high, 21 cm diameter. Exhibited: 'The Japanese aesthetic', ceramics and glass circle of Australia, 2006/2007.
