Ccedar secretaire abattant circa 1860, in the German Beidermeier style, an unusual form in Australian furniture design. It has a moulded cornice above a long top drawer with an S-shaped profile. The drop front of the desk has a cantilevered action and opens to display twelve drawers within a moulded frame, nine drawers with ceramic knobs and an open central compartment flanked by turned columns above a writing surface which Retains its original American cloth lining, height 170 cm, length 115 cm, depth: 54 cm.
