Important 1843 Australian Political Banner Original 'Wentworth & Bland' banner in silk from 1843. Provenance; by decent from the family of Dr Bland's domestic staff. Full details will be provided to successful bidder. This banner was created for Australia's first 'national' political elections held on 15 June 1843. Wentworth and Bland successfully stood on a joint ticket for election to the two seats in the Sydney electorate. They campaigned using a white embroidered election banner with the slogan 'Australia's Hope and Sydney's Pride. The banner is in fair - poor condition, but is suitable conservation.
