An exceptional Directoire period marble, gilt and patinated bronze clock, of large scale, with enamelled dial signed 'Caillouet a Paris', the movement and case elaborately festooned and mounted with an eagle, on a platform base inset with plaques of playful cherubs. Suspended on two marble columns surmounted by winged sphinxes and decorated with neoclassical motifs, including Egyptian caryatid pilasters, flowers, foliage and urns.
