A rare skull cup, Kapala, the interior lined in a bronze alloy and set with a large coral bead within a double Dorji, Tibet/Nepal 19th century, used in tantra text and practiced by Hindu and Buddhist followers, note, the kapala is used symbolically in monasteries to hold bread or dough cakes, torma, as offerings, it is elaborately anointed and consecrated before use. Provenance: An old South African collection, height 18 cm, width 6 cm
