A George III mahogany fold-over card table, in the Chippendale style,18th century the serpentine top above a flower and ribbon carved frieze with pierced and scrolled corner brackets, raised on square tapering linen fold legs 73 cm high, 91 cm wide, 45 cm deep Provenance: Christie's Melbourne, fine furniture and decorative Arts, June 19 - 20, 2000, lot 180A. Note: inscribed under the felt baize in pencil 'My Own work / Thomas Chippendale St. Martin's Lane / 1752' and further inscribed with a sketch of two chairs, one with a typical Chippendale back, the other with emphasis on the claw and ball foot.
