A fine Culacula, Fijian paddle club, of spade form, with a raised traverse ridge and serrated edges at the base of the head on each side, the shaft terminating with a pommel. Intense dark brown glossy patina. Clubs were among the Fijian warriors' favoured weapons. The range of types and styles of clubs was exceptionally wide and whether it was a time of war or peace, the Fijian warriors were seldom without it, always alert of potential danger and used as an emblem to glorify their status.
