An Austrian pioneer falchion, c.1853-1889, with wide single edge, hatchet point blade, single shallow full length fuller to right hand face. Hilt with timber scales to each side of shaped blade tang, rounded pommel. Straight steel bar cross guard with rounded edges. Leather covered wood scabbard with brass chape and locket, length 62 cm.
