Royal Engineers Department Rare Australian pembroke table, blackwood and cedar, circa 1840s, stamped in three places 'R.E.D.' and with convict broad arrow. This table was most likely made for the Departments headquarters at No.2 Davey Street in Hobart which was completed in the mid 1840s. The building, a beautiful two storey sandstone structure prominently located near the Hobart foreshore is a fine example of Colonial architecture in the Georgian style. 76 cm high, 50 cm wide (extends to 110 cm wide), 106 cm deep
