An Anglo-Ceylonese carved ebony gentleman's chair circa 1840, the whole heavily carved, the back and front rails featuring flowers and foliage emanating from a central shell, the arms beginning with foliate motifs and terminating with scrolls and leaves, raised on turned front legs with carved acanthus leaves, and splayed back legs 98 cm high, 70 cm wide, 80 cm deep.
