Two Vietnamese Hoi an Hoard blue and white boxes, 15th century, one cylindrical stoneware box decorated in underglaze blue to the flattened top depicting a stylised flower within a circular lappet border. The other box in the shape of a mangosteen, decorated to the sides with birds in flight and orchids. Both boxes retaining an excellent sheen to the glaze and strong cobalt colour to the painting., the larger box 5 cm high, 6.8 cm diameter. Provenance: both boxes salvaged from the Hoi an Hoard, with official Saga and Visal numbered labels. The larger box numbered 216151. The mangosteen shaped box numbered 91309.
