An Afghan wooden Merry-Go-Round elephant, early 20th century, carved in the form of a walking elephant from multiple joined pieces of wood, with black and remant polychrome decoration, and part of the original iron pole remaining within the body., 38 cm high, 64 cm wide, other notes: part of a simple fairground merry-go-round. These fairground rides were taken to local fairs, usually with just four wooden animals suitable for small children to ride on.
