A set of four Fuzhou bodiless lacquer decorated panels, Republic period (1912-1949) or early P.R.O.C. Period, 20th century, the panels consisting of red lacquer fields surrounded with mottled brown-green lacquer fretwork over a gold lacquer ground, the red field highlighted with slightly flattened removable precious antique archaistic objects giving a partial trompe l'eoil effect of added depth, each of the removable precious objects marked at the reverse 'Shen Shao an Lang Kee Foochow, China'. Each panel surmounted with a geometric pierced brass hanger., each panel 145 cm high, 39.5 cm wide.
