Heuer Autavia Ref 1163 a stainless steel automatic chronograph wristwatch Ref 1163 'Jo Siffert', circa 1970, dial: silvered applied black accented polished baton hour markers, black outer 1/5th second divisions, blue five minute markers, black subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for 30 minute and 12 hour recording, date aperture at 6, polished pointed baton hands with luminous and blue accents, blue centre chronograph hand. Calibre: cal. 11, automatic movement, 17 jewels. Case: brushed and polished stainless steel tonneau-shaped, calibrated black bezel, winding crown at 9, twin pushers at 2 and 4, screw down back. In 1968 racing champion Jo 'Seppi' Siffert won both 24 hours of Daytona and the 12 hours of Sebring in a Porsche 907 firmly securing his place in motor racing history. Jack Heuer made a sponsorship deal with the Swiss sportscar and Formula 1 ace and in 1969 he wore a white dial Autavia on his wrist. In 1971 Siffert's racing career was brought to a dramatic and tragic end when his Brm crashed at Brands hatch and caught fire with drastic consequences.
