Description:
The Australian Jam Company Football Team, Premiers 1917, a fine studio portrait of the team (by Tesla of Chapel Street, Prahran) which won a workplace football competition that year. Attractively presented in a period frame, glazed, overall 59 x 70 cm. A very fine and rare picture. 'A social history of workplace Australian football, 1860–1939' by Peter Burke (2008) in support of his Ph.D is available online and gives a valuable insight into the role and impact the workplace football team in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
