Only 1000 copies printed, with a personal forward by Don Bradman, the original of which (with original signature) accompanies the book, as does a copy of the caricature of Bradman by Mike Mitton (also signed by Bradman). Bradman and O'Dowd had corresponded for a number of years and Bradman was clearly very happy to write the forward, '...I just wish there were more Kevin O'Dowds prepared to chronicle the life-blood of cricket. At the time of publication, Kevin O'Dowd had been statistician of the Geelong Cricket Association for eleven season, having 'served his apprenticeship' during nineteen seasons in the same position with the East-Belmont Cricket Club. The book represents six years of research, editing and writing.
