A George II Chinoiserie black lacquered longcase clock, the dial signed William Pierce, new Romney, circa 1735, the eight day movement with an anchor escapement striking on one bell, the brass dial with a silvered Roman numeral chapter ring, arcaded Arabic seconds, calendar and subsidiary dials for seconds and silent/strike, housed in a black lacquered case painted in raised gilding with a scene depicting pagodas in a garden setting, the casement door with a glazed lenticle, 234 cm high
