An antique jade horse and monkey figural group possibly early 20th century, in even celadon colours depicting a recumbent horse with a mischievous monkey upon its back tussling over a stem of lingzhi fungus, an auspicious pairing representing power and promotion. Provenance: Property of a British soldier stationed in China and Hong Kong, 1930-40, thence by descent, height 4 cm, length 7 cm
