A pair of large Japanese export Ko Imari vases, early Edo period, Genroku (1688-1704), the large trumpet shaped vases decorated in kinrande style in underglaze blue, iron red and gilding, with bijin (beautiful women) amongst cherry blossom, and carp ascending a waterfall. This pair of vases was originally part of a five-piece garniture. One vase very attractively repaired with gold lacquer (kintsugi). Each together with a custom made Japanese wooden box, 43 cm high x 23 cm at widest point
